Padova è stata per me una bellissima scoperta!
Ho appena trascorso un weekend nella signorile cittadina veneta, che trovo essere veramente un gioiellino architettonico ancora tutto da esplorare!
Come sapete in ogni mio viaggio le parole chiave sono wellness, cibo locale, sostenibilità e valorizzazione del territorio. Ecco quindi i miei consigli non solo su cosa visitare e dove dormire a Padova, ma anche dove concedersi un pomeriggio di coccole, in pieno centro storico!
METHIS HOTEL: DORMIRE NEL CENTRO STORICO DI PADOVA
Ho scoperto il Methis Hotel grazie ai miei amici e colleghi travel blogger The Globbers, padovani doc che vi suggerisco di seguire per vivere tutte le news della città attraverso gli occhi di due locals 😉
Questo grazioso hotel 4 stelle si trova in posizione ottimale, a 10 minuti a piedi dal centro storico, circondato dal verde al cospetto della Specola, l’antico osservatorio astronomico della celeberrima Università di Padova, la quale svetta dominante di fronte alle terrazze delle camere! Un affascinante buongiorno!
La struttura è accogliente e funzionale, ogni piano è dedicato ad uno dei quattro elementi, terra, fuoco, acqua e aria; le camere sono spaziosissime e luminosissime circondate da una mega terrazza. Davvero incantevoli!
Inoltre sono felice di sapere che è dotato di impianti ad alta efficienza energetica e predilige materiali ecosostenibili.
Il ristorante e le colazioni sono davvero deliziosi, con particolari attenzioni alle proposte healthy: superfoods, miele in favo, frutta fresca, alternative vegan e gluten free.
Ma ciò su qui vorrei soffermarmi è la nuovissima Meth Spa!
METH SPA: LA MIGLIOR SPA DI PADOVA, APERTA A TUTTI, ANCHE DOPO CENA
Aperto quest’anno, questo moderno centro benessere non solo è la chicca dell’hotel, ma è anche e soprattutto l’unica spa nel centro storico di Padova e, udite udite, è aperta a tutti, non solo ai clienti dell’hotel!!
Quindi, che siate residenti Padovani, viaggiatori di passaggio in città, che vi fermiate a Padova poche ore per lavoro o meetings, o anche che decidiate di alloggiare in appartamento o presso altre strutture…potete liberamente accedere alla Meth Spa! (e se mostrate uno screenshot di questo articolo avrete uno sconto del 20%!!)
L’orario prolungato è sicuramente un plus: la spa è infatti aperta tutti i giorni fino alle 22:30/23, per concludere la giornata, lavorativa o esplorativa, nel modo migliore!
All’interno della Meth Spa troverete bagno turco, docce emozionali, saune finlandese, fontana di ghiaccio, area relax con lettini di fronte ad uno spettacolare muro di sale Himalayano, angolo tisaneria, due cabine per trattamenti singola, ed una specialissima Romantic Suite!
La Romantic Suite è una zona esclusiva adatta ad un’esperienza benessere di coppia, con doppio lettino per massaggi di coppia e idromassaggio privato che viene riempito con olio di semi di vinacciola. Sembra quasi di stare a…Bali con quest’atmosfera!
Il personale della Spa (come in tutto l’hotel) è davvero preparatissimo, in costante aggiornamento e formazione, spigliato con le lingue, e soprattutto attento alle singole esigenze di ogni cliente. Prima di scegliere che trattamento fare infatti, abbiamo analizzato insieme la mia tipologia di pelle e le sue necessità. Abbiamo quindi optato per un fenomenale Trattamento Vitamic C, che è consistito in un dolce scrub ed una super nutriente maschera corpo.
Devo assolutamente parlarvi della strepitosa gamma di prodotti che ho scoperto grazie allo staff di Meth Spa! Dopo diverse esperienze lavorative con i classici brand da spa, spesso poco efficaci, Valentina e Nicol hanno deciso che alla nuova Meth Spa si sarebbero usati solo prodotti di altissima qualità, per assicurarsi che il cliente riceva davvero un trattamento mirato e duraturo. Hanno così scelto la linea Germaine de Cappuccini, azienda con 50 anni di storia e numerosi premi alle spalle.
La mia maschera è stata divina, tant’è che dopo la doccia calda non ho avuto bisogno di mettere la crema per diversi giorni, tanto la mia pelle era rimasta profondamente idratata! Pazzesco!
Alcuni amici che erano con me, entrambi con carnagione ed occhi chiari, mi hanno detto che i loro trattamenti viso sono stati altrettanto fenomenali…e non stento a crederci perchè quando li ho visti uscire dalle rispettive cabine non solo erano in uno stato di nirvana, ma sembravano davvero ringiovaniti!
Il listino trattamenti della Meth Spa è ricco di rituali insoliti e particolari, come il Kacao Chocolate Spa, Romantic Suite Benessere di Vino, Percorso Terra con Zolfo, Kalari con mani e piedi…se abitassi a Padova ne proverei uno a settimana!
ALLA SCOPERTA DI PADOVA: CITTA’ ITALIANA DA VISITARE ASSOLUTAMENTE
Signorile e raffinata, curata e vivace, storica e giovanile. Padova mi è davvero piaciuta un sacco! Amo le cittadine storiche a misura d’uomo, i centri storici ben tenuti, l’atmosfera vivace e dinamica dei centri universitari. Padova è tutto questo!
A guidarci nel nostro tour alla scoperta della città un’accompagnatrice turistica frizzante e appassionata: Chiara di My Venice Travel Guide.
Con nozioni curiose e mai noiose, Chiara ci ha mostrato i punti più belli della città come Torre dell’Orologio, Prato della Valle, Palazzo della Ragione, Caffè Pedrocchi, Palazzo del Bo, Piazza dei Signori, Castello di Ezzelino, l’Università dove hanno insegnato personaggi illustri come Galileo Galilei…i magnifici porticati che incorniciano tutta la città, i romantici ponti, Piazza delle Erbe e Piazza della Frutta..
La prossima volta che verrò con più calma voglio visitare l’Orto Botanico, patrimonio UNESCO, la Cappella degli Scrovegni affrescata da Giotto e le incantevoli e imponenti Basiliche. Padova ci dobbiamo rivedere presto perchè ho tante cose in sospeso con te!!
Nonostante non avessimo il tempo di visitare tutto, perchè come vi dicevo Padova offre veramente tanto a livello di arte, storia, architettura e servono almeno 3 giorni per vederla tutta con calma, la nostra guida ci ha però portato in un posticino delizioso a fare qualche assaggio di salumi e formaggi veneti.
Al piano terra del duecentesco Palazzo della Ragione troviamo una importante testimonianza della storica vocazione commerciale di Padova, ossia il Mercato sotto il Salone: una serie di botteghe rinomate per avere tutte le più introvabili eccellenze culinarie regionali ed Italiane.
Qualche stradina più in la, in Via S. Francesco 48, Chiara ci porta in un piccolo negozio gourmet, Antica Salumeria Guarnieri DAIDUE snc di Michele Dal Santo e Roberto Pettenello. Il tempio dei formaggi, dei salumi e di tantissime altre prelibatezze del territorio! Vi consiglio vivamente di farci un salto!
Bene amici, mi sembra di avervi raccontato tutto sul mio weekend padovano e spero davvero di avervi incuriosito ed invogliato a scoprire una cittadina a dir poco splendida, che ha poco da invidiare alla “sorella maggiore” Venezia.

I have just spent a lovely weekend in this elegant medieval town in Veneto, which I found out to be a real gem still to be explored!
As you know in all my travels the key words are wellness, local food, sustainability and enhancement of the territory. So here is my advice, not only about what to visit and where to sleep in Padua, but also where to indulge in an afternoon of pampering, right in the city center!
METHIS HOTEL: WHERE TO SLEEP IN PADUA
I discovered Methis Hotel thanks to my friends and fellow travel bloggers The Globbers, that I suggest you follow to experience the city through the eyes of two locals 😉
This charming 4-star hotel is located in an excellent position, a 10-minute walk from the historic center, surrounded by greenery in the presence of the Specola, the ancient astronomical observatory of the famous University of Padua, which you can see from the room terraces! A fascinating good morning!
The structure is welcoming and functional, each floor is dedicated to one of the four elements: earth, fire, water and air; the rooms are very spacious and bright surrounded by a huge terrace. Really beautiful!
I am also happy to know that the hotel is equipped with energy efficient systems and uses eco-sustainable materials.
The restaurant and the breakfasts are delicious, with healthy options: superfoods, honey comb, fresh fruit, vegan and gluten free alternatives.
But what I would like to focus on here is the brand new Meth Spa!
METH SPA: THE BEST SPA IN PADUA, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Just opened, this modern wellness center is not just the hotel’s cherry on the cake, but above all it is the only spa in the historic center of Padua and, it is open to the public, not only to hotel guests!
So whether you are Padua resident, travelers passing through the city, whether you stop in Padua a few hours for work or meetings, or even if you decide to stay in an apartment or other facilities … you can freely access the Meth Spa! The extended time is definitely a plus: the spa is open every day until 10.30 pm or even 11. What a lovely way to end the day, whether you’ve been working or exploring!
Inside the Meth Spa you will find turkish bath, emotional showers, Finnish sauna, ice fountain, relax area with sunbeds facing a spectacular Himalayan salt wall, tea corner, two single treatment cabins, and a very special Romantic Suite!
The Romantic Suite is an exclusive area dedicated to couple wellness experiences, with two beds for couple massages and a private whirlpool that is filled with grape seed oil. It almost feels like I’m in … Bali with this atmosphere!
The Spa staff (and the whole hotel) is very competent, constantly updated and trained, fluent in foreign languages, and above all caring for the individual needs of each client. Before choosing what treatment to do, in fact, we have analyzed together my skin type and its needs. We therefore opted for a phenomenal Vitamic C body treatment, which consisted of a gentle scrub and a super-nourishing body mask.
I really have to tell you about the amazing products I discovered thanks to the staff of Meth Spa! After several work experiences with the classic spa brands, quite often not very effective, Valentina and Nicol decided that only the highest quality products would be used at the new Meth Spa, to ensure that clients receive a truly targeted and lasting treatment. They thus chose the Germaine de Cappuccini line, a company with 50 years of expertise and numerous awards.
My body mask was divine, so much so that after the hot shower I did not need to put any cream for several days, as my skin was still deeply moisturized! Crazy!
Some friends who were with me, both with very white skin and blue eyes, told me that their facial treatments were just as phenomenal … and I don’t find it hard to believe for when I saw them coming out of their respective cabins, not only were they in a nirvana state of mind, but they truly looked younger with less wrinkles!
The treatment list of the Meth Spa is full of unusual and special rituals, such as the Kacao Chocolate Spa, Romantic Suite Wine Wellness, Earth Ritual with Sulfur, Kalari with hands and feet … if I lived in Padua I would try one a week!
WHAT TO SEE IN PADUA, VENICE’S LITTLE SISTER
Elegant and refined, organized and lively, historical and youthful. I really enjoyed Padova a lot! I love the Italian medieval towns on a human scale, the well-kept historical centers, the lively and dynamic atmosphere of the university centers. Padua is all this!

Next time I come for a longer time I want to visit the Botanical Garden, a UNESCO heritage site, the Scrovegni Chapel frescoed by Giotto and the enchanting and impressive Basilicas. Padova I shall see you again soon as we have some pending business!
Although we didn’t have the time to visit everything, because as I told you Padua really offers a lot in terms of art, history, architecture and you need at least 3 days to see it all, our guide took us to a delicious little place to do some tasting of local Veneto salami and cheeses.
On the ground floor of the thirteenth-century Palazzo della Ragione we find in fact an important testimony of the historic commercial vocation of Padua, namely Mercato sotto il Salone (the Market under the Hall) a series of shops renowned for having all the regional and Italian culinary excellences.
A few streets further up, in Via S. Francesco 48, Chiara took us to a small gourmet shop, Antica Salumeria Guarnieri DAIDUE snc owned by Michele Dal Santo and Roberto Pettenello. The temple of cheese, cold cuts and many other delicacies of the area! I highly recommend you walk in!
